Sheriff’s deputies in Frederick County have apprehended a Leesburg man who was busted attempting to solicit sex from an undercover agent posing as a teenager online.
Oleg Tatchin, 48, has been charged by members of the Frederick County’s Sheriff’s Office with 10 counts of sexual solicitation of a minor after he allegedly attempted to exploit a 14-year-old girl through the Internet.
In May, a detective from the sheriff’s office was performing online investigations posing as a minor when he was approached by Tatchin through a mobile messaging app, officials said.
Despite being advised repeatedly by the detective that he was speaking to a child, Tatchin continued to engage in sexual conversations with the officer, soliciting multiple sex acts.
During their conversations, investigators say that Tatchin offered to travel from Virginia into Frederick County to engage in those sexual activities, and on Friday, July 28, he followed through.
However, he was met by members of the sheriff’s office, not his teenage prey. He was arrested without incident and taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
“A part of the (Frederick County Sheriff’s Office) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Section’s duty is to conduct online undercover investigations regarding the solicitation of minors through mobile applications, websites, and various other means facilitated by technology,” officials stated.
